We adopted Aces about 10 years ago from the animal shelter. It didn’t take very long for us to understand how Springer Spaniels got their name. It was no obstacle for Aces with the five foot high fence and he enjoyed having the run of the yard.

However, as he is approaching his ninth birthday, we are beginning to see a more apparent limp and hip distress. We learnt that it is the onset of arthritis from our vet.

Dog arthritis inflicts a lot of pain. Aces couldn’t tell us about his pain, but we can clearly see it through his movements. He moves a lot slower and has difficulty climbing the stairs or getting into our car. It kills us to see Aces suffer arthritis in silence.
